What's A Cloud?

The term "cloud" in computing refers to a new and powerful way of building Internet software applications. Many people argue about what a cloud is technically, but as a customer, it brings three key features over software that is provided "On Demand", "Hosted" or is simply "Software-as-a-Service":

• Cloud platforms can run across multiple data centers
• Cloud applications run across many computer servers
  
• This "Cloud" of data centers and individual computer servers automatically grows as more users are online and as more processing power is needed 
  

Cloud Benefits

The Cloud immediately provides three advantages over traditional Internet applications:

• If a data center goes down—power outage, earthquake, etc.—there is no impact

What's An App?

A SeeControl M2M app is a set of device definitions, features, custom fields, terminology, icons, reports, business rules and analytics. In total these elements combine to create a unique solution to your operational environment:

• Devices are mapped to the SeeControl cloud based on their protocols, agents, etc. Any Internet-connected device works with SeeControl.
• Features such as geofencing, min/max inventory management, mobile asset crumbtrails, e-mail notification, landmarking, operator/technician profiles and other asset management tools are mapped to data
• A custom visuals builder allows you to get asset data in to maps, charts, rich tables, schematics and other visualizations
• Business rules define how assets interact with their operators, maintainers or other assets. For example, an inventory component can be scanned onto a fixed capital asset and a hierarchy is maintained. Or a business rule could look for certain conditions on a machine, and then automatically instruct it to shut down or go into a different mode
• Analytics constantly execute algorithms and analysis on top of your data—to look for exceptions, to create business intelligence or to kick-off workflows
• While this sounds complex, SeeControl has a library of app templates for AVL, Telematics, Inventory Management, DoD Unique Item Tracking, Asset Tracking, Data Center Management, Container Tracking and many other solution that are turnkey—minimal effort is needed to customize these templates for your operations
• A friendly dashboarding and portal system allows you to put "at-a-glance" charts, videos, reports and other information right at your fingertips
