October 1st, 2009 - Mountain View, California—Rackable Systems has selected SeeControl for tracking mission-critical assets, spare parts and other consumable inventory assets at customer locations. Rackable will use SeeControl to streamline asset and supply chain management for many of the world's most well known Internet companies, who leverage Rackable's customizable servers to service millions of users per minute.

Rackable is going to use a customized SeeControl application that centralizes fixed asset and spare parts visibility from remote barcode scanners used at customer locations. In customer environments, even a minute of downtime can lead to significant drops in service levels. This demands not only precision asset tracking to help repair technicians locate machines quickly in massive data centers, but additionally highlights the role of real-time spare parts management in the data center to help the technician locate the right part quickly.

With SeeControl's remote tracking and sensing suite, Rackable was able to deploy barcode scanning to multiple customer locations virtually overnight, without having to work with any of their customers' IT Departments. The company is now armed with a competitive aftermarket service weapon and intends to offer a revenue-driving on-site managed service that none of it's competitors can match.
